US Senate Election Results 2008

According to it looks as though the US have been tallied. It looks as though the balance of the power has shifted in favor of the democrats.

With 35 Senate seats available in this 2008 Election 17 have already been projected to be for the Democratic Party. 14 have been projected to have been for the Republican Party. In addition to these Senate Seats there are currently 4 Senate seats that have been left undecided.

The US Senate give us approximately 56 Democratic Senators versus only 40 Republican senators and 4 seats yet to be decided. This definitely shifts the balance of power over to the democratic party.

This will definitely be an interesting time in American History with a full swing of power in favor of the democratic party. With a democratic president, a seemingly democratic senate and house, it looks as though there will be a great deal of changes being made.

To me my big concern over this swing of power is not the economy, but moreso the budget. Customarily when the democrats are in control of major offices the economy seems to thrive a bit more than it does when the republican party is in. But in addition to that the inflating deficit also seems to grow exponentially as well. So there will have to be some kind of accountability being made as far as spending is concerned.

Accountability has always been a downfall of the democratic party, and in this economy bigging an even bigger financial hole for our future will not make our present any brighter.
