New Stimulus Package a Possibility?
Congress is mulling over the possibility of another stimulus package for the cash strapped US Economy. The Federal Reserve Chairman has recently endorsed this possibility as something that would immediately influx some much needed cash into the economy.
The reported Second round of stimulus payments is supposed to be around the area of 300 billion dollars. They are also looking at putting into play some road projects that had been sidelined. Such spending would end up injecting some immediate job opportunities to the economy.
Food stamps are also being looked at, to see whether they should be increased to those individuals who qualify. An injection of food stamps would also immediate economy as it would immediately increase the amount of spending.
Many of the republicans currently feel that this type of spending is more pork barrel than anything and is not the type of spending that is required in this time of a bloated deficit. Despite the opposition there is still a good chance that this second stimulus payment will be passed sometime soon.
Analysts indicate that despite Washington’s efforts to help the failing economy that a new stimulus package as well as the bailout bill would not help save the failing economy and pending recession. They predict that despite the influx of cash to a cash strapped economy the long term outlook looks like there will be multiple quarters of slowdown.
Recently the Bush administration has softened its opposition to this package, but the likelihood that this measure would pass into law prior to the next administration taking over would be unlikely. The most likely scenario would the stimulus package being passed into law sometime in 2009 and being disbursed throughout the year in the form of stimulus payments.
Congress has also been discussing extending unemployment assistance for those who have lost their jobs. This temporary assistance could also assist the economy in immediate spending as well.

I could have really used a second check! I work 2 jobs to make ends meet and have NO money for Christmas. I hardly have money for food.
GEE another check, who the hell cares I don’t see it any way. Two school loans and child support yeah itsa crock of shit which most guys are in as well. I feel pretty fortunate, I’m getting it paid of slowly but surely and still barely have enough to scrape by. but most guys I know make less than me and owe a whole lot more than me. this government is shit. the DA is assinine. I work with a former law officer who is also getting screwed by the DA for child support thinks it’s a crock of shit as well. hey if the government wants to help the big guys maybe it should really help the little guy too. after all we are the ones that can make or break this economy, you don’t give billions of dollars to a big company and expect it to fix the economy, you spread it to the people and when bills start getting paid the economy will recover. after all spending is down because they can’t aford it right! HELLO Wake up BUSH ADMINISTRATION does anyone have a brain up there, help us we’re sinking and you guys are just standing there watching it happen!!!
I’m a single father with two kids in college, a job that is laying off, and hardly no money for gas or food. All I see is big business get richer and the poor get poorer if I sound like I’m mad I’m not. I’m just fed up with the way this administration have ran this country in the DIRT.
